Session: Challenges and Best Practices for Reducing Your Data Risk Footprint 

Data in non-production environments often comprises more than 80% of total enterprise volumes. And those environments, often provided for development, testing, analytics, and AI/ML training, often create more risk than their production counterparts: they are often ephemeral, more users have direct access, and the usual security measures may not be applicable. Data privacy regulations such as GDPR and  and CCPA mandate the protection of sensitive data, while data security standards, such as ISO 27001:2022, stipulate measures such as data masking to protect sensitive data wherever it resides.

In this session, we will discuss the challenges, architectural patterns, and process improvements to make data protection in non-production environments feasible:

  • How to deal with integrated data environments where data needs to be protected consistently and across different types of data sources.

  • How to deal with data sets which are located on-prem, in public cloud, and/or in other countries, including those that reside with service providers.

  • How to protect data at scale as volumes grow and where your workforce is highly distributed.

Ilker Taskaya is an experienced technology leader with expertise in data security and compliance. He began his career as a database analyst and has since gained extensive experience across multiple verticals. He co-founded the data masking solution at Axis Technology which was acquired by Delphix and holds several patents in the data security field. Ilker has over 25 years of experience in financial services and insurance and was recently promoted to Field CTO for Compliance Solutions at Delphix.
